Basilizwi Trust

Established in 2002, the Basilizwi Trust is a registered NGO whose headquarters are in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. It has sub offices in Binga and Nyaminyami Districts and operates in four districts namely Binga, Hwange, Gokwe North and Nyaminyami which are inhabited by the Tonga.

The trust was established to focus on advocacy, education and culture support, HIV and AIDS and livelihoods programs. The project was designed to make ICTs available, accessible and relevant for local development and empowerment of the Tonga communities. This was achieved through the use of ICTs in education and training, enabling local communication and the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage and exchange.
