Founded on 16 November 1945, United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) is an organization with more than 50 field offices around the world whose thrust is to strengthen cultural development. UNESCO, an arm of the United Nations Collection of Traditional Music, has a collection of 127 albums of music from around the world. The collection includes music from Malawi. An album called ‘Chisamba’ is part of the collection. The collection was inspired by the country traditions which are rich with cultural influences. The collection also comprises of music from the Zulu and Nguni people from South Africa and the Islamic Yao people of Tanzania.
