Listen to NC Dread’s new album Riddim Ryder
South African reggae-dancehall artist NC Dread has released his latest album Riddim Ryder.
The 18-track album, which is available on music streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer, features collaborations with Shatta Wale (Ghana), AK Songstress (Ghana) and Jah Seed (South Africa/Zimbabwe).
Other artists featured on the Bashment Music-produced album are Black Dillinger (South Africa), Major E (Zimbabwe), Wyre (Kenya) and General Degree (Jamaica), among others.
“Dancehall is a genre that cuts across cultures, races and ethnicity but is, sadly, always marginalised by SA mainstream radio stations and DJs,” NC Dread said.
“Dancehall fans always have to go the extra mile to indulge in the music they love. For me, to be able to call on these fans for so many years, means a lot, hence I am repaying their endurance and love through this album - 18 tracks of unbridled joy. Enjoy it, it is yours!”
Riddim Ryder takes the listener on a journey of different vibes with songs such like ‘Houdini Inna Pulpit’, which address social ills and false prophets, ‘Bad Like 90s’ and dance track ‘Vosho’, which NC Dread says is an illustration of where his music is right now as well as a test of his artistic abilities and a dedication to his daughter.
The album is NC Dread’s second offering and follows his 2015 debut Hustle.
Songs off the new album that have already gained traction include ‘On Fire’, ‘We Gi Dem’ alongside Shatta Wale, ‘Riddim Ryder’ and ‘Baddest’, which features nine African reggae-dancehall artists.
Riddim Ryder is available for purchase here.
