Call for applications: Marafiki Festival in Tanzania
Musicians can now apply to perform at the first edition of Marafiki Festival in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 8 to 10 October 2020.
The festivals’ artistic director, Isack Abeneko, told Music In Africa that the festival would seek to discover new talent and expand Tanzania's scene by promoting African musicians playing live music.
“Marafiki is a Swahili word that means ‘friend’,” Abeneko said. “We celebrate the power of music and culture. At the same time, we strive to facilitate a great relationship between musicians, audiences and various stakeholders in the creative sector, especially in the East African region. Additionally, the idea is to introduce new bands and musical styles to the locals in Tanzania."
