Nigeria: Omah Lay releases new EP What Have We Done
Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and producer Omah Lay on 20 November released his new EP What Have We Done.
The five-track project is now available on various streaming platforms. What Have We Done is the musician’s debut album released under Atlantic Records and his second project this year after Get Layd. It comprises contributions by producers such as Swaps, Tempoe, Echo the Guru and Tuzi.
The album explores the singer’s interpretation of his newfound musical fame and fortune on songs like ‘Can’t Relate’ and ‘Godly’. The EP also includes the remix to his single ‘Damn’ and features Atlanta singer and rapper 6lack.
Omah Lay said the project reflects his journey and maturity as an artist. “I like to think that I have grown since the last time you heard from me and I’m sure you’d hear that from my music,” he said. “This time last year, I was holed up in my tiny room singing my guts out, not knowing if people would ever hear or even appreciate these songs.”
The album comes days after Omah Lay was featured by Audiomack as part of the music streaming and audio distribution platform’s #UpNow series for emerging artists.
Born Stanley Omah Didia, Omah Lay this year also collaborated with Afrobeats giants Wizkid and Adekunle Gold, as well as rapper Olamide on a number of songs.
Additionally, the producer became Apple Music’s first featured Africa Rising artist. The singer also made Shazam’s Naija Risers playlist which premiered on Apple Music last month.
