Yemi Alade inks Universal Music Africa deal
Nigerian artist Yemi Alade has signed a licensing deal with Universal Music Africa (UMA).
Based on the multi-year agreement, UMA would serve as the exclusive worldwide record music partner for Yemi Alade and her Effyzzie Music Group label.
"We go with God," Yemi Alade wrote on Instagram. "My God is always on time."
UMA will also serve as the international roll-out partner for the project and the agreement would take effect immediately.
Effyzzie Music Group CEO and founder, Taiye Aliyu told local media: “We at Effyzzie Music Group and Yemi Alade are pleased to be working in partnership with the Universal Music Group, changing the narrative of African music, one artist at a time. The future is Africa.”
Alade made headlines in 2009 after winning the popular Peak Talent Show. She later released her debut single ‘Fimisile’. In 2013, she signed a deal with Effyzzie Music Group and released the hit single ‘Johnny,’ off her 2014 debut King of Queen album. The album, a mixture of reggae and R&B, features notable producers and guest artists such as Phyno and Chidinma. Since then, Yemi Alade has released many songs, featured on a number of projects by other artists and toured the world extensively.
