Akon signs Nigerian producer Samklef to label

The producer and performer is now signed to Akon’s KonLive. The signing occasioned the use of superlatives by the Senegalese-American act, who said, “Samklef was signed to KonLive because he is the best all-around entertainer from Nigeria.”

Samklef, whose most famous work came on Wizkid’s first album Superstar, has released two albums and a few singles. His first work under AkonLive is a single titled ‘Philo’, which will be released soon.

"Life on the Nigerian streets amidst the harsh survival conditions of the typical African ghetto made me business savvy and a realist," said Samklef. "The opportunity to be part of Akon's camp and learn from the greatest in the music and business world is an honor.

In recent times, Samklef had receded from the spotlight and has had some trouble with erstwhile collaborator Wizkid. Though both artists never patched up publicly, there have been no reports from the camp of either act.

Samklef is signed by Akon's KonLive Distribution and KES Entertainment Record Label, a joint venture partnership with KonLive, En-Treeg and Simcol Entertainment. Rozina Negusei, CEO of En-Treeg Records and Akon's wife had praise for Samklef.

“He is a certified hitmaker with great stage presence and a master at engaging any music-loving crowd,” she said.
