Call for applications: 2020 National Arts Council of SA bursaries
20 Aug 2019 - 15:25
The National Arts Council (NAC) of South Africa is calling on postgraduate students, registered education and training institutions to submit applications to receive funding for the 2020 academic year.
The call is intended for postgraduate students and registered education and training institutions that are involved in studies or provision of tuition in the fields of music, dance, theatre, crafts, literature, multidiscipline, visual arts, cultural policy, arts and culture management as well as any arts-related course.
The invitation also extends to students applying for a bachelor of technology degree in the arts. Applications for fashion design must have a cultural element as part of the studies. Particular attention will be paid to postgraduate qualifications that address rare skills required in the arts sector.
The invitation extends to individual postgraduate studies (both part-time and full-time studies) for the year 2020. Postgraduate students whose degree requires two to three years of study (MA and PhD) who were granted a bursary during 2019 should not reapply for funding. The grant will be renewed for the duration of studies, subject to the successful completion of each year of study.
Institutions applying for funding are required to support undergraduate students for the duration of their undergraduate studies, subject to the successful completion of each year of study. Institutions should be prepared to enter into a service level agreement with the NAC in the fulfilment of this requirement.
How to apply
Applicants need to register and complete the online application form using this link. The application deadline is 12 September and applicants should expect outcomes from 13 December.
