Music Business Academy: Connecting Africa’s Music Professionals Through Knowledge, Dialogue and Community

The Music Business Academy is a Johannesburg-based industry initiative dedicated to connecting Africa’s music professionals through knowledge-sharing, dialogue and meaningful collaboration. Founded by Gift Mdlalose, the Academy provides a consistent platform where artists, managers, students and emerging industry practitioners can engage directly with respected and accomplished professionals working across the music value chain.

At the heart of the initiative are its monthly Music Business Network sessions, which offer practical, real-world insight into the business of music. These sessions feature experienced guest speakers who share firsthand perspectives on areas such as rights management, music publishing, artist management, broadcasting, marketing and long-term career sustainability.
