The Composers, Authors and Publishers Association of South Africa (CAPASSO) has announced the recipients of its 2025 Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Programme, which provides financial support to projects aimed at developing South Africa’s music industry.
The programme supports initiatives in music education, industry events, women in music and community upliftment. CAPASSO has allocated an annual budget of R2 million to the initiative, with grants ranging from R20 000 to R200 000 per project.
According to the organisation, the selected projects were chosen from a large pool of applications submitted from across the country.
The 10 recipients for the 2025 funding cycle are:
- Shama Maqhawe Sibusiso Zamisa — The Creative Pulse: Secunda Edition
- Brendon Tayler — Mokima Music & Publishing Songwriting Camp
- Katlego Calvin Mashilane — The Music Entrepreneurship Program
- Khulane Morule — Khuli Chana Hub for Creatives
- Lebohang Mlangeni — The Ekurhuleni Music Workshop 2026
- Mlungisi D. Moyo — YeahWeLit Development Project

- Sindisiwe Sibiya — The Amathonga Music Festival & Creative Development Workshop

- Sphesihle Nzama — Music Industry Capacity Building Workshop
CAPASSO said the selected projects reflect a range of priorities, including artist development, entrepreneurship, music education, festivals and community-based initiatives.
CAPASSO CEO Jotam Matariro said the programme forms part of the organisation’s broader efforts to support the music sector beyond royalty administration.
“At CAPASSO, our purpose extends beyond the administration of royalties; it is about nurturing the ecosystem that makes music possible,” Matariro said.
“This CSI Programme is an expression of our commitment to the composers, creators and communities who breathe life into the South African music industry. To every applicant who shared their vision with us, your ambition inspires us and we remain dedicated to finding more ways to support the industry we love.”
The CSI Programme was established to provide financial assistance to projects that serve the wider music industry. Funding is awarded annually across four categories: music education and workshops, industry events and festivals, women in music initiatives, and community upliftment projects benefiting previously disadvantaged communities.
CAPASSO acknowledged the high number and quality of submissions received during the application process, noting that only a limited number of projects could be selected for funding.
The organisation said the programme will continue in future funding cycles as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting growth and development within South Africa’s music industry.
