Eedris Abdulkareem
Bio
Real name - Eedris Turayo Abdulkareem Ajenifuja, is a Nigerian hip hop artist and activist. Born to a polygamous family in Kano, Nigeria, his father was from Ilesha, Osun State, and his mother was from Ogun State.
Raised in Kano, he adopted Kano State as his state of origin. is emergence into the spotlight came, when he performed as a member of the popular Hip Hop Group, the Remedies with hits like "Keep on rocking", "Shakomo" and "Shade" in the late to early 90's.
Having left the Remedies amicably Abdulkareem's solo debut album, P.A.S.S. ("Pains And Stress = Success") was released in 2002 on the Kennis Music label, and it was received well by Hip-Hop fans and Music Pundits alike, with tracks like "So Ligali" featuring Pasuma Wonder, "Come Back Home" etc In 2004.
Abdulkareem's third album, Jaga Jaga, appeared on the Kennis label. Its title track, which lamented the corruption and suffering in Nigeria and was banned on the radio waves. He was to release a further eight albums on his own label La Kreem Records, founded in 2006. He models his music and activism on his hero Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, who famously fought for the down-trodden. He owns a Foundation which works to support victims of HIV.
