Real name Joshua Kalu Martins Okechukwu was born on September 29 1977 in Onitsha, Nigeria, though originally from Ohafia Abia State.He was influenced by his mother who was a choir master,started his career in a in a choir. Also during his Primary and Secondary School days, he learnt to play several musical instruments.

He studied Mass Communication and Business Administration at University. On graduation he went into Music full-time, first as a Gospel Producer, working with legends such as Patty Obasi, Chinyere Udoma the Agape Love Band etc He later broke into the mainstream. forming a creative partnership with the P-Square team.

He was later in his own right, to forge a strong path as a solo artiste, with International hits like "Good or bad", "Jukpa", "Iva" etc. The strength of his music being the distinctive and authentic African feel, laced with Latin and Caribbean Influences in an original hybrid and driven by his powerful vocals. He was to work with several stars such as Fally Ipupa, Cabo Snoop, P-Square etc.

A multiple award-winner, he was also appointed and acts as a UN Peace Ambassador.
