Tuyishime Joshua, better known to his fans as Jay Polly, is a hip-hop artist from Kigali, Rwanda. He was born in Gikondo, Kigali in June 1988. He is the second born in a family of three children. He attended Kinunga Primary and ESK Kicukiro secondary schools. His music career began in 2003 in school with his friend Green P. In 2004, he and other artists, Green P included, founded a music group called G5. They started writing songs and shortly began recording at TFP Studio.
G5 went on sabbatical and Jay Polly came up with an idea of forming Tuff Gang. He decided to do solo projects and released a song called ‘Money’. The single was followed by other songs such as ‘Ndacyariho’ and ‘Ibyo Ubona’.
In 2011 and 2013, he competed in the Primus Guma Guma Super Star4 (PGGSS) competition, but did not win. In November 2013, he signed a three-year contract with Touch Records, a music production house based in Nyamirambo, Kigali. In 2014, he won the PGGSS, this proved that he is the most loved Rwandan Artist. Some of his most loved hits include are ‘Deux fois deux’, ‘Ndacyariho Dahumeka’ and ‘Akanyairajisho’.
Besides music, he studied Art and he is a good designer.
