Bio
Iledare Olajuwonlo, popularly known as Jaywon, is a Nigerian hip hop artist who was born on 6 June 1986, and grew up in Kogi State, Nigeria.
Jaywon started his music career in 2004 in Abuja, before moving to Lagos where he did odd jobs to survive while waiting for his big break. While working, he performed in small shows in and around FESTAC, becoming popular in a local scene that had many other budding musicians at the time.
His break came at the Kennis Music Easter Fiesta in 2009, where Jaywon impressed Keke Ogungbe of Kennis Music and was signed to the Record Label that same year. Jaywon went on to clinch the Best New Artist award at the Nigerian Music Video Awards in 2009 for his song, 'Filebe'. He released 'Odun Yi (This Year) in December 2012, and it has become his signature song.
Jaywon left Kennis Music in 2013, after recording two albums with the label: Meet with Jaywon and Odun Yi. He started his own label, Next World Music, and released his third studio album, Oba Orin (King of Songs) in April 2016. He was awarded the “Best Indigenous Act” at the 2016 ACIA Awards in Atlanta, United States.
