Born on 4 August 1986 in Lusaka, Zambia, Mampi (real name Miriam Mukape) is a Zambian RnB singer who also performs kwaito and reggae music. She attended Muyooma Basic School, Libala High School, and the Springfields Coaching Centre in Lusaka.
In 2005, she released her first album called ‘Maloza’. It featured a song called ‘Sunshya’ which she performed for her first appearance on Television Zambia. The album shot her into the limelight of Zambian Music. Her second album ‘Chimo ni Chimo’ was released in 2007. In 2012, she performed in Windhoek, Namibia for the first time.
Apart from music, she was a contestant during the seventh season of Big Brother Africa 7 as one of the celebrity housemates on the seventh season of the reality competition television series Big Brother Africa StarGame. She was evicted from Big Brother Africa on 27 May 2012.
Some of her songs include, ‘Nina Kuona’, ‘Sinichiziba’, ‘Osanimenya’, ‘Ni Yenda Naye’, ‘Chance, Sunshya’, ‘Malozi’ and many others. She was voted Best Female Artist at the Zambian Music Awards and is also a three times Zambian Ngoma Awards.
