Bio

The Recording Industry of Kenya (RIKE) is a not-for-profit organisation registered in 2022 that strives to protect the collective interests of producers in Kenya.

RIKE aims to advocate for the interests of recorded music business stakeholders, promote content protection and enforcement and protect ethical business practice In the recording landscape.

Its focus is to provide a forum in which members may discuss matters of common interest and to provide a medium to represent members in negotiations with government departments, relevant unions, trade associations, rights organisations, broadcasting organisations, collective management organisations, market research societies, and other interested parties, including to represent Members on issues of public policy and engagement with music users.

RIKE works with stakeholders and policymakers to ensure that the recorded music ecosystem is protected across its various revenue streams, including the digital space, which has experienced strong growth in recent years but continues to face the threat of piracy.

It also aims to ensure that the collective management of sound recordings is aligned with standard practice and work closely with the IFPI in the administration of the International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) in Kenya. Its other key mandate is music charts certification.
