Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Zamazitha Nkala Jordan Mnqandi, known professionally as Scumie, is one of South Africa’s most distinctive emerging artists. With a career rooted in rap, internet culture and an instinctive ability to move between genres, Scumie has steadily built a name for herself as an artist unafraid to evolve.

An internet sensation, Scumie has accumulated over 2.1 million streams on SoundCloud, more than 3 million streams across Apple Music and Spotify, and over 45 million TikTok views for her song “Prayer 2 Myself,” cementing her ability to create music that resonates beyond traditional platforms. Her sound has continuously evolved alongside her artistry. While initially recognised for her sharp, new-age rap and sweet, calming vocal delivery, Scumie is now entering a new era rooted in neo-soul and alternative avant-garde hip-hop, exploring a more experimental, atmospheric and emotionally layered approach to music.

Beyond music, Scumie has built a strong presence within South African youth culture, collaborating with leading brands including Sportscene, Adidas, Red Bat and Stimorol, and most recently partnering with Yogurtland for a new campaign.

She has performed on some of the country’s biggest platforms, including Hey Neighbour Festival, Cotton Fest, the African Throne Tour, Red Bat 20-Year Celebration, & Back to the city, while collaborating with artists such as Uncle Waffles, Sho Madjozi, Blxckie, Saudi, Yanga Cheif and Nadia Nakai... Her latest project AVANT, represents a deliberate departure from expectation, blending her rap foundations with neo-soul, alternative hip-hop and avant-garde influences to create a world that feels distinctly her own.
