Sniper Storm
Bio
Sniper Storm is one of Zimbabwe’s popular dancehall musicians. His real name is Donald Chirisa and he was born on 7 July 1979 in Waterfalls, Harare. He was raised by his grandmother following the divorce of his parents. He attended school at Seke 4 High in Chitungwiza. His music career began when he was in high school. In 1999, he took his career seriously and began participating in emceeing battles. In that same year, he participated with the likes of Major E, Daddy D and Booker T at Live Wire Nightclub. This prompted him to start performing in clubs.
His debut single was recorded by Delani Makhalima at Shamiso Entertainment Studios. In 2000, he recorded ‘Dem Wanna Know Me’ a single which featured on the ‘Gone Platinum Compilation CD’ by Mo Vip studios. He also made an appearance on David Chifunyise’s remix of ‘Tauya Naye’ song. The song was taken from his compilation CD album ‘The Future’. His song ‘Gede’ made him raised him to prominence. Some of his popular songs include ‘Kwarira Mukati’, ‘Luv Yemsoja’, ‘Hapana Hapana’ and many more.
In 2005, he launched his debut album ‘Ndakabata Mic’. This was followed by ‘The Voice’ in 2009. He released ‘Ghetto Gospel’ (2010) followed by ‘Salute The General’ in 2011, ‘Attention’ in 2012, ‘Dongfeng’ in 2013 and ‘Silver Bullet’ (2014). Sniper has performed in places outside Zimbabwe. He has staged in South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique and the UK. In England he performed at the 2009 SAMA Music Festival.
