Victoria Wezi

BIO

Born on 25 May 1992 Victoria Wezi Mhone is a female Zambia artist who was raised in Ndola. She is daughter to the late Apostal Simon Mhone and Pastor Royce Chanje Banda. Her musical influences in Zambia cross all genres ranging from hip-hop to kalindula. She draws her musical influences from Pompi and Zone Fam. Globally, her biggest influences are Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Brandy, Ne-Yo, Celine Dion, Cece Winans, Bob Marley and 2pac.

Her interest in music began at a tender age of seven. She was leader of a singing group in a club called Scripture Union. Her family, friends and teachers encouraged her to sing. At the age of 11, Victoria began writing poems and composed her own song. Her passion for music grew throughout high school where she sang in front of 700 pupils.

After high school she moved to Lusaka to pursue a career in music. She began her career in 2012. 'Ambuya' is her maiden song. In January 2016, she released her debut gospel album titled 'Uhai Ep'. The album launch was hosted by Lusaka's Alliance Francaise. Prior to the launch, Wezi took time off her preparations to bring her fans to speed about where she had been and what she had been up to.

Some of her songs are 'Nthenda', 'Nyimbo Zako', 'Ma Planga Na Nsimbi' and 'Ziko Zuuba Na Mwezi'.

Wezi competed in the Airtel Trace Music Stars competition. She came out second while Bernard Shaluchiso took came out first. Musically she has collaborated with artists such as General Ozzy, Wilz , Zone Fam, Cleo Ice Queen among others.

She is a holder of bachelor’s degree in the school of humanities at the University of Zambia,
