Ghana's R2Bees for UK concert
Ghana's Paedae and Mugeez, the popular duo of R2Bees, will be headlining a music festival in the UK. Named ‘Afrobeats Music Festival’ and scheduled for 30 July, the festival will take place at London's indigo at The O2.
The festival comes on the heels of the group signing with StarBoy Entertainment, the label owned by Nigerian pop artist Wizkid. That announcement was made by the ‘Ojuelegba’ singer at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. R2Bees lost the Best Group award to VVIP. They, however, rendered a well-received performance, and Paedae was named President of the new StarBoy Worldwide label.
The Afrobeats Music Festival will be hosted by popular UK radio personality DJ Abrantee of Capital Xtra. Also taking part in the festival are The Compozers, Moelogo, May7ven, Mista Silva and Jaij Hollands. Rising acts K.Weezy, Ray & Double A will also be a part of the event.
An EP is expected to be released by R2Bees following the UK festival, which has been described as “Europe’s Biggest Afrobeats Music Festival.”
According to the festival organisers, Afrobeats Music Festival is "tailored to foster unity and excellence in Afrobeats will be a show-stopping experience that will guarantee festival goers a quantifiably amazing show; from psychedelic stage and on-screen visuals, cultural dance and a strong line-up of performers.”
