5 artists to watch at 2016 Vic Falls Carnival

This year, organizers have introduced a new festival format to kick off the adventure weekend. Revellers can party the night away on the opening night at either the Shoestrings Lodge Pool Party, a Gorge Party overlooking the Falls or a River Party along the Zambezi River. The 30th of December will see the famous Train Party set off into the bush for a secret party featuring DJ Francis, Diloxclusiv and many more. After that festival-goers can enjoy the majestic Zambezi River on a Sunset Cruise. 31 December sees the New Year’s concert attract thousands to party under stars with a great lineup.

Here are five artists to look out for at this year’s festival:

Goodluck

SA’s top electronic trio and returning headline act, Goodluck, will be hitting the Vic Falls stages with their unique brand of swing electro with pop sensibilities. The band have had ten top singles on the South African charts. They have performed all over the world including Amsterdam, Berlin and London.

Tresor

Tresor is a multi-award winning and platinum-selling 2015 breakout singer-songwriter and producer originally from Congo. He has written songs for Idols South Africa, Heavy K and Zahara. His debut album debuted at number two on iTunes and features collaborations with AKA, Beatenberg, Khuli Chana and The Soil.

DJ Sketchy Bongo

Hailing from KwaZulu-Natal, Sketchy Bongo is one of South Africa’s biggest producers. He has worked with AKA, JR, Da LES and Aewon Wolf. He teamed up with Shekhinah and Kyle Deutsch for the hit Back to Beach, which topped charts on radio and TV.

Tidal Waves

Tidal Waves will ring in the new year with their original reggae music intertwined with traditional African music influences like Maskandi and Mbaqanga. After 12 years in the industry and five albums later, the band is known as South Africa’s hardest working reggae outfit because of their busy tour schedules.

Judgement Yard

Zimbabwe locals Judgement Yard, based in Harare, will be adding their high energy electricity to the stage with a mix of dancehall and reggae. The group has released a series of mixtapes which feature collaborations and music from dancehall artists in Zimbabwe.
