Burna Boy, Babyface to perform at 2022 DStv fest in SA
The organisers of the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival have announced the first batch of artists who will perform at this year’s event at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 24 and 25 September.
The two biggest acts confirmed so far are Nigerian artist Burna Boy and US R&B singer Babyface. Burna Boy will headline the main stage alongside British hip hop/electronic dance group Stereo MC's. They will be joined by locals Major League DJz, G-Force, LKG, Lamiez, Zinhle and Soul Sista Zane alongside kwaito legends Mdu, Kabelo, Thebe, DJ Dino Bravo, Arthur and Trompies.
Babyface will share the stage with US hip hop trio Digable Planets on 25 September. They will be joined by DJs Oskido, Vinny, Christos, Ganyani and Fresh. A tribute concert to the late Miriam Makeba and her legacy will be held on the same day by local artists Simphiwe Dana, Zenzi Makeba Lee and Msaki. They will perform under the Miriam Makeba Tribute banner.
“We are delighted to bring back the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival now that we are through this crippling pandemic,” the festival’s media director, Nokuthula Monaheng, said. “The year's event will be bigger and better, with amazing culinary and musical talent touching down in Mzansi over the Heritage Day weekend for the greatest festival in Africa.
“Along with a phenomenal line-up, we will be doing everything we can to support local communities through our partnership with Chefs with Compassion. While celebrating the good times, we must also remember our less fortunate and invite our fans to do the same.”
In addition to headline sponsor DStv, the festival has received support from Diageo, Chill Beverages, Mercedes-Benz, Samsung, Sasol, Proudly South African, Flight Centre, the Gauteng Tourism Authority and Windhoek Beer.
