Call for applications: Goethe-Institut Namibia NUTS concerts

NUTS was established in 2014 to create a platform for local musicians to showcase their talent and get exposed to new audiences. The project targets musicians who are not yet established, but also welcomes those who have been on the scene for a while. It is also open to artists outside Namibia.

Over the years, NUTS has hosted musicians from Zimbabwe, Ghana, Angola, Germany and Canada. Each NUTS concert that welcomes musicians outside Namibia seeks to foster cooperation and cultural exchange with local musicians.

Interested or upcoming musicians who seek to perform on the NUTS stage can send an email to Michelle Namases at [email protected] with a biography in PDF and links to music samples.

“We are looking for diversity in terms of genre and setups,” Goethe-Institut Namibia said. “Goethe-Institut has never cancelled a show and is proud to have been part of the development of musicians – from amateurs to professionals.

“Some artists who have performed at NUTS as newbies in 2014 and 2015 have propelled into the industry and returned to the NUTS stage as professionals.”

Goethe-Institut Namibia began this year’s NUTS concert series with a performance by local Afro-jazz singer Bonganisoul in Windhoek on 5 March.
