Call for applications: International music conference in New York

Export-ready enterprises that have been in operation for at least 12 months are encouraged to apply and stand a chance of being part of the selected delegates to attend this international exhibition in New York.

Now in its seventh year, Mondo is New York’s annual music, arts and technology business conference and showcase festival. It is aimed at empowering artists and advancing ideas in an ever-changing music business and technology landscape. All Mondo in-person events will require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination with corresponding identification upon entry.

Applicants should be in possession of a US visa, valid beyond the end of October. Applicants whose visas expired in the last 12 months are welcome to apply, provided they also give proof of an application to renew their visa. Applicants should also be willing to comply with various travel regulations pertaining to COVID-19. These includes being fully vaccinated and also willing to take a COVID test prior to travel.

How to apply

To apply, companies and artists should download the Emerging Exporters Application PDF form and sworn affidavit on the IMEXSA website, complete and sign both these documents and compile them as part of their application pack. The sworn affidavit can be replaced by a BEE certificate where one is available.

Applicants should also add the following documents as part of their application pack:

• Proof of registration of the entity if it is a CC or (Pty) Ltd.
• Copy of an ID in case of a sole proprietor.
• A full visible colour product brochure.
• EPK information.
• Photographs or pictures of the products to be exhibited.
• Audited financial statements or stamped/verified bank statements for the last three months (NB: bank statements not stamped or verified will be rejected).
• A copy of a valid passport of the proposed traveller.
• Copy of a valid US visa or a proof of applying for one if current one expired in the last 12 months.
• Original valid tax clearance certificate, profile of the entity or the artist and a motivational letter indicating how you are planning to secure deals during the event.
• The company profile should include the following details: Name of the entity, contact details and physical address, background of the entity, ownership, vision, mission, products or services and conclusion.

Note: No application will be reviewed without all the required documents.

All documents should be included as part of one email and not multiple emails. If unable to attach everything on one email, applicants are welcome to send their application pack as a single link via WeTransfer or Dropbox. If submitted as an online link, the application should be clearly identifiable by including the name of the company/artist submitting the application.

Everything should be compiled in separate folders for ease of readability, including EPK, brochure, music samples and music videos where available. For music samples, applicants should include online links to their artist’s music. Only online submissions will be considered. No postal or couriered deliveries will be accepted. Companies or artists that have applied before are still required to submit all documents for this application as IMEXSA does not use old documents on the applications.

What will IMEXSA provide

• Flights, airport transfer, accommodation including breakfast, exhibition costs and conference registrations will be paid for the successful applicants. However, applicants will need to pay for their own visa renewal application where applicable, travel insurance and any other expenses they may incur.
• Applicants will also be expected to attend a mandatory workshop prior to undertaking the trip to Mondo. All inquiries or clarities should be sent via email to submissions@imexsa.org.za.

Artists who would like to showcase at Mondo should apply directly with Mondo. There is no payment for showcases, and applicants will also need to cover their expenses to the event.

Artists can also be selected to do a virtual showcase, in which case there will not be travelling costs.
