Call for participation: ACCES 2019 producer workshops
The Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES) is calling on musicians, producers, sound engineers and those interested in the music business to participate in the ACCES 2019 workshops, scheduled for 29 and 30 November in Accra, Ghana.
The call is open to everyone and all that interested individuals need to do is register to be at the music conference. Registration is free for Africans, while non-Africans will be required to pay a fee of $100.
Participants are free to attend all sessions on a first-come, first-served basis.
The ACCES 2019 workshop sessions will be as follows:
Music production essentials
This two-day workshop will be steered by Kofi 'IamBeatMenace' Boachie-Ansah, a multi-disciplinary artist and producer who has worked at various record labels, publishing companies and advertising agencies in Ghana.
The workshop is designed for both aspiring and established producers who will get to learn about top production secrets in beatmaking, arrangement, DAWs, plugins, mastering and useful production tools.
The two sessions will run on Friday 29 November from 11am to 5pm and Saturday 30 November from 2pm to 5pm. The Friday session will also see the participation of Ghanaian songwriter and film producer Panji Anoff who will share his rich experience in the industry with the workshop participants.
Composing for film
ACCES has once again partnered with German institution Media Sound Hamburg on this important session aimed at music producers who are looking to tap into the film industry – one of the most financially rewarding avenues available for composers today.
This session, facilitated by composer and former Cinema Musica magazine editor-in-chief Stephan Eicke, takes place on Saturday 30 November from 11am to 2pm and will also cover the basics of sound design and music for the gaming industry.
Music In Africa recently called on young Ghanaian film music composers, video game music composers and sound designers to apply for a summer scholarship that will take place in Hamburg, Germany, in August 2020. The winner of the scholarship will be announced at ACCES 2019.
Scholarship applications are open until the end of October 2019.
About ACCES
ACCES is a pan-African trade event for music industry players to exchange ideas, discover new talent and create business linkages. ACCES is held in a different African city every year, attracting active music industry players from across the globe.
ACCES is organised by the Music In Africa Foundation, a non-profit and pan-African organisation, in partnership and with the support of Siemens Stiftung, Goethe-Institut, Reeperbahn Festival International, Alliance Française, BMG, MediaSound Hamburg, the Multimedia Group, Africa Art Lines, Afrikayna, the Gold Coast Hub, the Year of Return, the Prince Claus Fund and the ANT Mobility Grant from Pro Helvetia Johannesburg, financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
This year ACCES has a partnership with Reeperbahn Festival – one of the most important meeting places for the music industry worldwide and Europe's largest club festival based in Hamburg, Germany. The partnership creates a framework for the festival to collaborate with ACCES in facilitating sustainable business engagements and exchange between European and African music businesses and professionals, as well as the provision of performance opportunities to musicians in both territories.
