South African production company Monkey Films is desperately searching for West African drummers who are currently based in South Africa. This is an exciting opportunity with continental reach.
The company is in the process of casting for a commercial and is looking for highly skilled drummers, particularly of West African descent. They require one contemporary drummer and 12 traditional drummers. The drummers must be exceptionally talented and have a good understanding of Nigerian music and drumming styles, although they do not necessarily need to be Nigerian citizens. They are looking for men who are in good physical shape and between the ages of 25 and 50 years old, preferably muscular and dark-skinned.
Castings will be held at 2pm on Tuesday 22 September in Johannesburg and in Cape Town. The Joburg casting takes place at #7 Netwater Place, 252 Oak Avenue (cnr Republic Road), Randburg. The Cape Town casting will happen at BR Casting, Unit 1, 2nd Floor, 79 Roeland Street.
The 12 selected traditional drummers need only be available to shoot on 5 to 7 October. The selected contemporary drummer needs to be available to travel between 12 and 19 October (the shoot moves to Lagos from 15 to 17 October) and therefore needs to have a valid passport.
If you fit this description and are available for the shoot, please send a photo of yourself and a description of your drumming style to Anade Situma at [email protected].
