Kenyan rapper Ganjor drops video for Nairobi Love single

‘Nairobi Love’ serves as the introductory track for his debut album, The Great Son of McBeth, out later this year.

‘Nairobi Love’ is a vibrant celebration of the Kenyan capital where Ganjor was born and raised. It is also an invitation to the listener to sample Ganjor’s hybrid sound prevalent on the new album.

The four-minute track features an infectious hook and rides on a catchy gengetone beat – the prevailing rhythm of the city.

The video takes viewers on a visual journey through Nairobi’s bustling central business district, its serene green spaces and pulsing neighbourhoods.

The colourful montage provides an intimate tour of the city, showcasing not only its infrastructural evolution, but also the unchanged old haunts that define its character and capture its true essence.

Ganjor, who signed with Lucky Bean Music Productions in May, counts local legends Ukoo Flani and Necessary Noize, as well as African giants Burna Boy and Big Zulu among his role models. He discovered his talent aged 15 and has gone on to release successful singles that have received widespread airplay on Kenyan urban radio stations. His upcoming album, the product of collaboration between his co-writer and producer Gary, is a sonic exploration of African, hip hop and dancehall sounds.
