Mr Eazi releases Something Else EP

The five-song collection was released on Banku Music/emPawa Africa and is available on all major digital platforms. It was heralded by the single ‘The Don’, which was co-produced by Killertunes and E Kelly and published last month. It also arrives three months after his One Day You Will Understand EP.

Mr Eazi said in a press statement that ‘The Don’ set the tone for the EP. “I spent the entire year working on building emPawa Africa and morphing into ‘Don Eazi’. I almost had no time to record. This project was inspired by Kel P and Killertunes, who kept coming to meet me in Accra until I finally recorded ‘The Don.’ That opened the door for me getting back in the studio.”

Something Else finds the ‘Leg Over’ singer calmly blending influences of Afropop/Afrobeats, trap and archetypal Ghanaian highlife. Thematically, the project tackles concepts like self-confidence, love and the good life. 

Other songs on Something Else are ‘Love For You’, ‘Cherry’ featuring Kenya’s Xenia Manasseh, ‘Saudi Arabia’ and ‘Ebe Mad’. Apart from Killertunes and E Kelly, Something Else features production from Spellz, Blaq Jerzee, Kel P and Jaylon.

Mr Eazi’s other recent releases include ‘Lento’ with Colombian singer J Balvin and ‘Oh My Gawd’ with Major Lazer. The dancehall record features Nicki Minaj and K4MO.

Meanwhile, Mr Eazi will today begin recording his third album Life Is Eazi, Vol. 3, which will be his first full-length offering since 2018.
