Namibia: Women win big at NAMAs
Female artists Suzy Eises, Sally Boss Madam and Chikune were the biggest winners of the 2018 Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) held at The Dome in Swakopmund at the weekend.
The three artists were each awarded two gongs. Saxophonist Suzy Eises walked away with the Best Newcomer and Album of the Year awards while Afro-fusion singer and performer Sally Boss Madam won in the Female of the Year and Best R&B categories. Afro-jazz musician Chikune was awarded for Best Collaboration and Best Afro-pop.
The Song of the Year and Best Video awards went to One Blood and Gazza respectively. D-Naff scooped Best Reggae of the Year while the Best Kwaito award was given to Exit. South African group Distruction Boyz were honoured with the Best Pan African Artist gong.
“Look at how far we’ve come everyone. Thank you everyone for the outpouring support,” Suzy Eises wrote on Facebook.
