Nigeria: Burna Boy wins 2019 MTV EMAs award

The 'African Giant' hitmaker triumphed against such top African artists as Nasty C (South Africa), Prince Kaybee (South Africa), Teni (Nigeria), Toofan (Togo) and Harmonize (Tanzania).

Other winners in different categories were Taylor Swift, Rosalía, J Balvin, Billie Eilish, BTS, Green Day and Halsey.                           

“African music continues to make significant contributions to global entertainment and culture,” Viacom International Media Networks Africa and BET International executive vice-president and managing director Alex Okosi said. “We are proud of and congratulate Burna Boy from Nigeria for winning the Best Africa Act at the EMAs, which showcases and celebrates the best talent from the world.”
