Nigeria: Young Jonn and Asake share new single Che Che
09 Jun 2025 - 13:25
Nigerian artist Young Jonn has returned with new single titled ‘Che Che’, featuring Afrobeats powerhouse Asake.
The track, released today across major digital platforms, marks the first release from Young Jonn’s upcoming project ‘Blue Disco’, and Asake’s first appearance since February’s ‘Why Love’.
With beautiful melodies, ‘Che Che’ is a feel-good Afro-pop anthem that celebrates effortless charm and self-assurance. Described by Young Jonn as a soundtrack for “feeling good and looking fly,” the track is already making waves across social media.
“This song feels like a moment,” Young Jonn said. “It’s about showing up, feeling good, and enjoying the ride, especially when you know you look fly. Linking up with Asake made it even more special.”
A teaser clip shared by Young Jonn earlier this week quickly gained traction on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, where it has already surpassed 6 million views, signalling a strong start for what is expected to be one of the season’s standout collaborations.
The release further showcases the dynamic chemistry between two of Afrobeats’ most influential figures. Asake brings his signature vocal energy to the track, complementing Young Jonn’s polished production and infectious hooks. Together, they deliver a bold statement of musical excellence and star power.
‘Che Che’ is set to build anticipation for Blue Disco, Young Jonn’s next major project, and further cements both artists’ status as genre-defining leaders in the global Afrobeats movement.
Born John Saviours Udomboso, Young Jonn is an award-winning producer, singer, and songwriter, widely known as “The Wicked Producer.” He began producing music in 2009 and rose to prominence through hits such as Olamide’s ‘Shakiti Bobo’ and Naira Marley’s ‘Mafo’.
In 2021, Young Jonn signed with Chocolate City Music, transitioning from a behind-the-scenes producer to a front-facing artist with the release of Love Is Not Enough Vol. 1, featuring the hit ‘Dada’ (Remix) with Davido. He gained international recognition in 2022 with Xtra Cool, which charted in 89 countries and amassed over 196 million streams.
His 2023 run included hit collaborations such as ‘Currency’ with Olamide, ‘Stamina’ with Tiwa Savage and Ayra Starr, as well as solo favourites ‘Aquafina’ and ‘Sharpally’. He concluded the year with ‘Disconnect and Go Hard’, leading into his critically acclaimed 2024 debut album JIGGY FOREVER, featuring artists like Sean Paul, Don Jazzy, Seyi Vibez, and Ya Levis.
