Open call: Institut Français essential project
22 Oct 2024 - 09:59
Institutions making up the French cultural network abroad, as well as international events and venues that set up their artistic and cultural programming, are invited to submit applications for the Institut Français (IF) Incontournable (essential project).
IF Incontournable supports live, hybrid or fully digital projects (for the French artistic teams facing difficulties regarding international mobility), as well as projects embedding digital tools in the creative or production process. When the projects are not led by the French cultural network abroad, they have to be developed in close collaboration with them.
The project is open to the following applicants:
- French cultural network abroad (cultural departments of the French embassies, French Institutes, Alliances Françaises, etc.)
- International institutions or cultural organisations inviting French artists (presenters, record labels, promoters, music publishers, platforms, museums, art centres, festivals, biennials, etc.)
The project applies to the following disciplines:
- Music
- Architecture
- Visual arts
- Digital creation
- Photography
- Design
- Artistic crafts
- Performing arts
Interested creatives should apply here before 30 October.
IF 2024 projects
At the close of the programming committee meeting held on 16 January 2024, 44 projects were selected for support under the IF scheme. The commission brought together the Institut Français’ teams and sector experts, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture.
Of the 87 projects received for this call for projects, from 31 different countries, 44 projects were supported. Particular attention has been paid to projects with a regional dimension i.e. involving several countries and partners in the project's geographical area, artistic collaborations or exchanges, projects led by female artists or operators or operations aimed at women, as well as projects with an eco-responsible approach.
