Pamoja Awards Burundi: All the winners

The gospel awards' founder, Geoffrey Baluku, popularly known as Pastor Jeff, told Music In Africa that the event was a resounding success.

“The event met our exceptions, even beyond,” he said. “The first awards were held at the same time at last year’s Pamoja Festival. We were not very impressed and that’s why we chose a different date this year. We will keep on improving on the concept but it's entirely dependent on the artists to keep releasing good music.”

The man of the night was veteran gospel musician Apollinaire Habonimana who received the Lifetime Award for his exemplary contribution to the growth of Burundi’s gospel music scene.

“He released the first ever gospel album and went on to stage the first ever gospel concert. Additionally, his songs have been sampled by many choirs in Burundi,” Baluku
