SA: Nobaray explores faith, commitment on new single ‘Holy Matrimonial’

The track presents a different perspective on romantic relationships, focusing on loyalty, responsibility and faith-centred love. Nobaray describes his approach as “faith-driven gangster rap”, drawing on his experiences and surroundings while addressing relationships and family life.

“This is not just a love song,” Nobaray said. “This is for the gents who came from the streets but choose to love right, lead right, and build a home that glorifies God.”

‘Holy Matrimonial’ forms part of Nobaray’s work as an independent artist and entrepreneur. Alongside his music, he has curated a Spotify playlist with more than 24 000 listeners and founded the Glory clothing brand.

Nobaray, whose real name is Sanele Batata, was born in Mthatha in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province. He works across music, curation and fashion, and has positioned his work around the region’s street culture while incorporating themes of faith.
