South African award-winning singer-songwriter and storyteller Pilani Bubu has released new singles ‘As We Lay’ and ‘Pendulum Swing’. Both tracks are available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
The singles come on the heels of Bubu’s tours in Ghana and Kenya, and ahead of her EP Lockdown Lovestory, due on 25 March.
“I’m excited to finally be releasing music again after three years,” Bubu said. “Lockdown Lovestory is my most personal work to date and I can’t wait to share it with the world. The EP is a musical account of my virtual relationship during the lockdown. Did any of you find love in lockdown?”
Written and recorded during the height of the pandemic, Bubu’s Lockdown Lovestory was inspired by her journey of a long-distance and virtual relationship, where she experienced feelings of loneliness and yearning presented by the pandemic.
The storyteller explores feelings of fantasy and nostalgia packaged in nu-R&B, an ode to R&B and neo-soul, which references 1990s and 2000s sounds and visual storytelling.
Fans can see Bubu perform on tour in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, East London, Pretoria and Johannesburg.
