Shazam launches Mzansi Risers playlist

The playlist, which can now be streamed on Apple Music here, includes the latest releases from the most talked-about artists as well as music that has been featured in movies and TV shows.

Mzansi Risers also includes emerging SA artists who are trending across the Shazam Charts, offering a select mix of sounds that reflect what music enthusiasts have been actively discovering on Shazam. Music genres on the list range from amapiano and hip hop through to Afro-house, electro and pop.

The playlist has more than 50 tracks, including ‘Your Love’ (Azana), ‘Risky’ (Elaine), ‘Ayabonga’ (TNS and SKillz), ‘Zange’ (Bongeziwe Mabandla), ‘Ndiyeke’ (Lemon & Herb and Ami Faku), and ‘Mthande’ (Mas Musiq).

“Shazam has helped me a lot as an upcoming artist, new to the industry, in promoting my music to people who wanted to discover my songs,” Azana, who is the latest musician signed to Sun-El Musician’s El World Music label, said. “I’m so excited to be part of the new Mzansi Risers playlist and share my music and messages with all of you guys.”

Mzansi Risers will be updated with new music every week. It is not the first playlist that highlights emerging artists since Apple Music acquired Shazam in 2018. Last year, Apple Music added a Shazam-powered playlist called Shazam Discovery Top 50, which showcases emerging artists across the globe.
