Shazam launches new home for Concerts
Apple-owned music discovery platform Shazam has unveiled Concerts, a new space in the app where music fans can discover upcoming concerts that are happening in their area.
Available in My Music, Concerts provides personalised event recommendations based on a user’s Shazam history. With the new Concerts feature, fans now have more ways to browse, search, and filter by artist, date, location and explore trending concerts, all in one place.
Shazam now also gives users the ability to save and revisit events, set reminders about upcoming shows, view tickets and unlock concert exclusives from select artists, which include brand new Watch faces and wallpapers available for download, behind the scenes video, tour photos, show set lists and more.
Apple says the launch rounds out a series of exciting concert discovery features Shazam has released this year across iOS, Maps and Apple Music. With the release of iOS 17, users searching for an artist in Spotlight can now stay in the know about upcoming concerts from touring artists, and explore ticket options, venue details and more with Shazam’s concert pages.
“On Maps, they can find a selection of expertly curated Apple Music Guides highlighting the best venues to experience live music around the world, and browse a venue’s upcoming shows directly from Maps,” Apple Music said. “On Apple Music, Set Lists shines a light on a selection of major tours, letting fans listen to set lists, read about the productions and browse artists’ upcoming shows in their area by launching Shazam’s concert discovery module.”
Launched in 2002, Shazam allows users to discover, interact with and share video or audio content on various devices by capturing short segments of music, movies, ads and television shows. In 2018, the app was acquired by Apple for $400m. The platform’s app has been downloaded more than 1.5 billion times globally, with over 25 million Shazams daily.
More than 200 million fans worldwide use Shazam to discover new music every month, allowing Shazam to predict music trends and hits earlier than most other services offering similar functionalities.
Shazam’s new Concerts space is available on the iOS app and will be unveiled on Android soon.
