“Joburg, we couldn't wait to tell you,” Afropunk wrote on Facebook. “We're coming back and we're bringing Solange, Miguel, Masego, NAO, GoldLink, and more with us. See you on 30 and 31 December on Constitution Hill.”
Solange, who cancelled her Afropunk performance three days before the 2017 event, assured her fans that she would be present this time around. "Yes, Joburg it's true. Saint Records will be joining us on 30 and 31 December at Constitution Hill,” a post on the artist's Instagram account says.
Busiswa also wrote on Instagram: “Hello Afropunk 2019? I plan to deliver.”
Meanwhile, Afropunk is running a battle of the bands competition ahead of the end of year festival. The competition is intended to mentor and support creativity among new artists by affording them the opportunity to perform at Afropunk events and at its festival stages.
"It’s an opportunity to show the people what you got, to be recognised by your audience and by your peers, since they’re the ones picking the winners," Afropunk said. "Some victors sign record-label deals and become famous for a while, others play a couple of big shows and fade away. Yet, you know, you know it, in this battle of the bands moment, that you need a bigger platform. What are you going to do, but whatever you do, the Aforpunk community is there for you."
Tickets to Afropunk available here. Visit the official website for more information about the event.
