The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is proud of its partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) as a Strategic Implementing Partner (SIP) for its Social Employment Fund (SEF). Through this collaboration, MIAF is running a national programme that is creating jobs, addressing skills gaps, and strengthening South Africa's creative industries — in line with the SEF's overarching goal to generate work for the common good and build community value through employment, social contribution, and inclusive economic participation. Operating under the banner NEFCISA (National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa), the initiative is recruiting and training participants, matching them with host organisations, and has already placed 1 500 workers across the country — surpassing its original target of 1 000. NEFCISA is delivered through a network of 20 host organisations spanning five provinces, who are actively hosting participants and contributing to work for the common good across South Africa's creative and cultural industries. Key Objectives: Support employment and entrepreneurship in the creative industries. Offer skills development and training programmes. Foster partnerships between public and private creative sectors. For cultural and creative practitioners and organisations operating in southern Africa, access to funding remains a major challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a massive impact on government policy, spending and the economy in general, and has seen spending on culture being moved further down the list of priorities. Further, the cultural and creative industries repeatedly cite four main areas where investment is needed for growth, which are increased visibility, mobility including access to new markets, finance and support structures.

Tanzanian bongo flava musician Harmonize was on 10 August announced as the brand ambassador of Mastermind Tobacco Limited in Tanzania.

Harmonize is the new face of Yes in Tanzania.

The announcement was made at a press briefing and signing ceremony in Dar es Salaam, which was attended by the musician, his management team and representatives of Mastermind Tobacco.

Harmonize’s role as the ambassador will include marketing Yes, the cigarette company’s latest brand in the country. The 'Mama' hitmaker will also become the face of the cigarette brand in various advertising campaigns.

"I am glad to have added another milestone today," Harmonize said. "I am pleased and honoured to be associated with Yes, considering that Tanzania has many talented and successful musicians, both male and female."

He added: "As the brand ambassador, I would like to emphasise that the smoking of cigarettes is harmful to your health, and it should not be sold to those under the age of 18 years. My final gratitude goes to my fans and stakeholders that continue to support my music."

Mastermind Tobacco Tanzania export and sales manager, Francisco Dean, said Harmonize is expected to make a positive impact on the brand.

"We are still a young company, but we are going to grow. I think this partnership is a good start and we are on the right path towards marketing it. We have found an artist, and in the future, we shall continue with this partnership for other brands that we are going to put out on the market."

The new deal adds to Harmonize’s list of roles as a brand ambassador. This year the artist became ambassador of soft drinks manufacturer, Sayona and CRDB Bank Plc Tanzania in January and April, respectively.

The 29-year-old singer gained commercial success in 2015 after joining Wasafi Classic Baby record label, which is co-owned by Diamond Platnumz. His debut album Afro East was released in March and featured artists such as Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Skales, Khaligraph Jones and Mr Eazi, among others.

Meanwhile, Harmonize released his latest single 'Jeshi' on 11 August.
