Ballad Zulu

Bio

Born on 17 November 1968, Ballad Zulu (real name Andrew Ballad Mutale Zulu) is a Zambian singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and economist from Zambia. His music career is characterized by long periods of silence. He was born in a home full of musical instruments. When he was born, his older siblings had already been conscripted into the art. His music style is described as a fusion of traditional Zambian music, pop, Afro beat and folk. In 1990, he released his first hit single called ‘Cook On’ (Woman of Truth). His other hits are ‘Welako’ (1994), ‘Step Mother’ (2002) and ‘Tipange Banja’ (2005). His new album ‘Experience’ was released on 10 January 2008. Despite a long break in releasing new music, Ballad is still performing in in a number of concerts in and around the country.
