Kenechukwu Ibedu

BIO

Kenechukwu Ibedu is a Nigerian music business executive, talent manager, award-winning filmmaker, educator, and founder of HWC Entertainment. With a dynamic career that bridges music, film, education, and cultural advocacy, he is a driving force in Africa’s creative ecosystem.

As the manager of the African song Eagle — Ifé, Kenechukwu is known for his strategic insight and talent development. He has fostered collaborations with some of the continent’s leading acts including Zoro, ILLBliss, Ụmụ Obiligbo, Dan Dizzy, Rudeboy, and Kolaboy, contributing meaningfully to the evolution of contemporary African music.

A passionate cultural preservationist, Kenechukwu revived the legendary Oriental Brothers Band of Africa after more than 30 years of silence, and champions the highlife legacy of Chief Osita Osadebe through his work with Okwy Osadebe. Azuka Moweta is also in his project for Artiste development and incubation. 

His impact extends globally—he has staged shows in Los Angeles, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, and Togo, sharing African stories with diverse audiences. As a filmmaker, he has written and directed globally recognized films, including award-winning works at the Nikon Film Awards such as “Like at Dusk and Solace”. Both films won the first position Grand dollar prices respectively. 

Academically grounded, Kenechukwu holds a certificate from New York University in the Business of Entertainment. He also studied Pure Mathematics and Physics at the NCE level and earned a first degree in Science Education (Pure Physics)—a background that fuels his enduring commitment to science education and interdisciplinary learning. He has went ahead to study other Music Business courses around the world. Working closely as Creative Director of Odogwu Entertainment with with Nnamdi Moweta the founder of Odogwu Entertainment, a Legend from Voice of America, BBC and KPFK in Los Angeles, California. Kenechukwu Ibedu is also the Label Head of Palenque Records in West Africa with the Head Quarter in Bogota, Colombia. 

A British Council Creative Enterprise Support Programme alumnus and a Professional member of the Recording Academy, Kenechukwu is equally a sought-after music business educator, having spoken at leading festivals in Ghana, Cameroon, and across West Africa. He champions community, innovation, and the sustainable growth of Africa’s creative economy.
