SISTER LB OFFICIEL
BIO
Sister LB – A Voice for Women Selbe Diouf, known by her stage name Sister LB, is a committed Senegalese artist, MC, singer-songwriter, and cultural entrepreneur. A rising figure in the Senegalese hip-hop scene, she uses music as a space for expression, transmission, and social transformation. Through her artistic universe, she tells the realities of her environment, celebrates Senegalese cultural identity, and carries a strong message in favor of women’s empowerment and social justice. Born into a family of musicians, Sister LB grew up in an artistic environment where her mother, a choreographer, introduced her from an early age to the love of performance and culture. Inspired by the traditional melodies of Senegalese Teranga, the socially conscious rap of Positive Black Soul, as well as international influences such as Missy Elliott, she developed a unique style blending hip-hop, vocals, poetry, and contemporary sounds. She gradually established herself in a music scene that has long been dominated by men, affirming an authentic and committed artistic identity. Her debut EP, On My Way (2023), marks an important milestone in her artistic journey. Through this project, Sister LB explores her personal path, her experiences, and her vision of a more inclusive world, while reaffirming her connection to Senegal’s cultural roots. Beyond her musical career, Sister LB is an artist committed to education and social action. She has collaborated with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) through awareness workshops for young people in Dakar, Mbour, Diamniadio, and Rufisque. She uses writing, voice, and music as tools for dialogue, awareness-raising, and social change. Her commitment and artistic journey have earned her several recognitions. She was recognized among the “8 Most Influential Rap Artists in Senegal” by Music In Africa, and her work has been highlighted by international media outlets such as The Guardian and the BBC. In February 2025, she received the Music Impact Award at the Linguères Awards in Senegal, recognizing her talent, commitment, and contribution to arts and culture. Her international journey reflects a constant openness to intercultural exchange. In 2023, Sister LB represented Senegal at WOMEX (Worldwide Music Expo), one of the most important professional events in the global music industry. She has also participated in several stages and festivals, including Afropolitan Festival, Festa2H, and Feminist Republik Festival. In 2024, she reached a new milestone in her international development through her participation in OneBeat 14 in the United States, the Bagiliba Festival in France, and the Pachamama Connexion Festival in Switzerland, fostering artistic collaborations and cultural exchanges between different territories. That same year, she became co-author of Liées et déchaînées, a short story collection published in December 2024, exploring themes of resilience and emancipation. In 2025, Sister LB continued expanding her international reach with an artistic tour in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, alongside Senegalese artists, followed by an artistic residency in Geneva, Switzerland, accompanied by concerts and professional encounters with the European music scene. Through her label Light of Brain Entertainment, dedicated to the development and promotion of female urban artists, Sister LB also works to create new opportunities for emerging talents and strengthen the place of women in the music industry. Today, Sister LB embodies a new generation of African artists who use their creativity as a force for connection, resilience, and inspiration. Between Senegalese cultural heritage, urban expression, and social commitment, she continues her journey with international ambition, carrying a powerful voice for women and African cultures.
