BIO
John Eni-ibukun is a Lagos-based Nigerian visual artist, curator and writer whose multidisciplinary practice explores culture, memory, identity and everyday life. Working across visual art, music, writing and creative curation, his work often connects contemporary Nigerian experiences with personal and collective histories. He has curated and contributed to projects across Africa’s creative industries, including Drummr Africa’s Yamen Yamen collective album and exhibitions featuring emerging Nigerian artists. He currently works in music curation, with a focus on African music and audiences.
Under the artistic persona June Sometimes, Eni-ibukun extends this practice into music, photography, painting and character-driven storytelling. June Sometimes is a multidisciplinary character rooted in the emotional textures of late-1990s and early-2000s Lagos, using nostalgia as a way to explore childhood, growing up, cultural change and adult reflection. His debut album, MeMoRieS WiTH NoSTaLGiC FLaWS, combines music, archival sounds, childhood references and an interactive digital game to create an immersive exploration of memory and Nigerian childhood.
