James BKS, also known as Lee-James Edjouma, is a multifaceted French artist born on 18 November. A prolific lyricist, music composer, and producer in the realm of African hip hop, his journey spans continents and genres.

Beginning in the United States, he signed with Akon's label Konvict Muzik, collaborating with luminaries such as R. City, T-Pain, and producing for notable names including Sean Combs, Snoop Dogg, Ja Rule, and Booba. Transitioning back to France, James BKS nurtured his personal project and emerged as a cornerstone of musical innovation.

Currently signed to Idris Elba’s 7Wallace label, his music resonates with a global audience. His singles, featuring artists like Allan Kingdom, Reo Cragun, Ebenezer, Idris Elba, Q-Tip, Little Simz, and his father Manu Dibango, reflect his diverse creative palette. Alongside his wife, he co-founded the record label and music production company, Grown Kid. James BKS's compositions have graced international airwaves, including Annie Mac's BBC 1Xtra radio show.

James BKS extends his artistry to film, crafting original scores for feature films and advertisements. His live performances began in Paris, captivating audiences with his talents. Rooted in his Cameroonian heritage, James BKS is the son of the legendary musician Manu Dibango.
