Magnificent Joe (real name Joseph Jayah) is a reggae and dancehall artist from The Gambia. He was born on 6 December 1984 in Banjul. He started singing in church and school. His maiden release was in 2005 when he launched a single titled ‘Singing Melody’.
In 2008, he won the Gamcel Chartbuster Award, a music competition for Gambian artists. In 2009 and 2010, he won the Best Artist of The Year category. In 2015, he released a debut album entitled ‘The Legal Movement’. The album features songs like ‘Happy Hour’, ‘Stay Away From Drugs and Crime’, ‘Huum in The Name of the Lord’, ‘Come Back To Me’ and ‘Loney Night’.
On 10 October 2015, he released a pan-African acoustic song called 'Africa'. The track featured renowned Malian producer and singer, Charles who played live guitar and produced the song. The mega collabo carries both English and French languages for a wider audience. He also released two promotional songs namely ‘Jah Put a Hand’ and ‘Let It Go’. The songs will feature in his next album to be released in 2016.
Besides music, he has holds an advance diploma in Law.
