MMP Family is a music outfit from Gaborone, Botswana made up of three members namely Mzico, M.o.D and Ples J. The group’s name is drawn from their stage name initials. They first came together in 2003 when they were still in secondary school. Back then, the three friends would sing and mimic popular songs thus defining their love for music. M.o.D has always loved hip-hop while Mzico and Ples were liked kwaito. They grew up in the same neighborhood in Gaborone West. They took a joint promise to pursue music upon finishing high school. Their first album was released in 2006.
In 2008 did a single and recorded 10 more songs which were compiled to an album.
In September 2009 they released a single called ‘Basadi’. In 2010 they recorded a track called ‘Tlala ka Lepantsola’ and then ‘Ayoba’ and ‘For U’.
Their break came in 2012 when they launched an album called ‘Mo spacing’. That same year they were voted the Best Kwaito Group at the Botswana Musician (BOMU) Awards. They were also nominated for Best Group and Best Newcomer. They received another nomination at the Yarona FM Awards.
In 2014 they released a single ‘Problem Child’, followed shortly by ‘Lebala ka Nna’ a hit that has won them a huge acclaim.
