BIO
Rita Chidinma Uzoma is a Nigerian violinist, vocalist, and performer currently based in Kigali, Rwanda. Her musical journey began in 2016 at a church choir music workshop in Lagos. In 2017, after a year of intensive training, she was awarded a full scholarship from MTN Foundation to study violin performance at the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON), where she trained from 2018 to 2020.
Rita is known for her distinctive fusion of classical violin techniques with Afrobeat, soul, and traditional African rhythms. She has performed across Lagos and Kigali, collaborating with notable artists including Adekunle Gold, Johnny Drille, Ayra Starr, and Timi Dakolo. She was recently featured at the Virgin Music Group listening party with DJ Milky Way.
As a solo performer and collaborative artist, Rita continues to build her reputation through stage performances and intimate showcases. Since 2024, she has performed with artists at Sofar Kigali and other curated live sessions that showcased her skill as both an instrumentalist and vocalist.
In addition to her performance career, Rita is an advocate for early music education. As part of her mission project at the African Leadership University in Kigali Rwanda, she is exploring the underrepresentation of music in early childhood education across Africa.
Her debut original release 'Dare' is available on all streaming platforms. Rita focuses on live performance, collaboration, and creative arrangement, whether solo or with a band, Rita delivers bold, captivating performances that merge cultural expression with raw musicality.
