Wizkid releases fifth album More Love, Less Ego
Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid today released his new album More Love, Less Ego. The LP is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
Released on Starboy/Sony Music International/RCA Records, the project follows 2020’s Grammy-nominated Made in Lagos, and is led by the ‘Bad To Me’ and ‘Money & Love’ singles.
Ayra Starr, Naira Marley, Skillibeng, Shenseea, Don Toliver and Skepta make guest appearances on the album.
“All the time, I want to show up as my highest self,” Wizkid said. “I’m really trying to show how God has blessed me with this talent and what I can do with it. And I’m here on earth to take this to the highest of my abilities.”
The project maintains Wizkid’s signature Afro-fusion sound that incorporates everything from highlife and R&B to dancehall and amapiano.
On the sonic direction of the project, Wizkid said: “I’ve been in the clubs for the past couple of months – travelling, doing shows, touring. Of course, I’ve been partying to amapiano. I’ve been making that for years, with Maphorisa back in South Africa. So I’ve made what I really love and just put it out there. I can do amapiano, I can do music from Mali, I can do sounds from anywhere, I’m African.”
In September, Wizkid debuted songs from the album at an Apple Music Live concert, which was shot at the Roundhouse in London. The showcase will be available to stream on 14 November.
Now, he will be taking the album on the road, starting this month with Madison Square Garden in New York, US and Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He is also scheduled to play at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra, Ghana, on 10 December.
