The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is proud of its partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) as a Strategic Implementing Partner (SIP) for its Social Employment Fund (SEF). Through this collaboration, MIAF is running a national programme that is creating jobs, addressing skills gaps, and strengthening South Africa's creative industries — in line with the SEF's overarching goal to generate work for the common good and build community value through employment, social contribution, and inclusive economic participation. Operating under the banner NEFCISA (National Employment Facility for Creative Industries in South Africa), the initiative is recruiting and training participants, matching them with host organisations, and has already placed 1 500 workers across the country — surpassing its original target of 1 000. NEFCISA is delivered through a network of 20 host organisations spanning five provinces, who are actively hosting participants and contributing to work for the common good across South Africa's creative and cultural industries. Key Objectives: Support employment and entrepreneurship in the creative industries. Offer skills development and training programmes. Foster partnerships between public and private creative sectors. Promote South African creativity at both provincial and national levels Foster community development through social contribution.

For cultural and creative practitioners and organisations operating in southern Africa, access to funding remains a major challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a massive impact on government policy, spending and the economy in general, and has seen spending on culture being moved further down the list of priorities. Further, the cultural and creative industries repeatedly cite four main areas where investment is needed for growth, which are increased visibility, mobility including access to new markets, finance and support structures.

Leading entertainment and music service company Ziiki Media will make knowledge exchange one of its key focus initiatives.

Zuchu is one the top African artists whose music distribution is being handled by Ziiki Media.

The company, which has partnered with the 2022 edition of the Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES) to be held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 24-26 November, said such programmes will spur the growth of the industry in Africa.

Ziiki Media said it was joining hands with ACCES as it seeks to increase empowerment initiatives that will open doors for more players and speed up growth that is being experienced in the region.

Ziiki Media’s senior business and marketing development manager for East Africa, Camilla Owora, said the programmes will be rolled out in phases in partnership with other key industry players.

“As we continue to grow, we would like to see that artists and other music practitioners are empowered to do their job effectively,” Owora said. “We realise the importance of having informed professionals and this is a gap that we are working to fill.”

Owora added that with partners like ACCES, highly specialised programmes that will tackle issues like digital music distribution and royalties, among others, will be developed.

With operations in sub-Saharan Africa and India, Ziiki Media is home to some of the leading artists in Africa including Diamond Platnumz, Zuchu, Sarkodie, Nyashinski and King Kaka.

As part of the partnership, Diamond Platnumz, arguably the most successful musician and music business entrepreneur to come out of East Africa in the past decade, will speak at ACCES.

He will share knowledge and tips about his career journey including his success as an artist, CEO and entrepreneur. Apart from releasing massive hits, he is also the founder and CEO of leading record label WCB Wasafi and prominent East African media company Wasafi Media.

“We are excited to be a valuable partner of ACCES this year,” Ziiki Media CEO Arun Nagar said. “Music and musicians from Tanzania are breaking new boundaries and becoming popular not only across the continent but globally.”

Diamond’s session, which will be presented by Ziiki Media, is certain to be a highlight of the conference, providing valuable insights into the fascinating journey of the superstar.

MIAF director Eddie Hatitye said: “We are excited to welcome Diamond Platnumz to ACCES 2022. His session will be an unforgettable experience for our delegates, who will be listening closely to his career story and learning from one of the best in the business.”

The three-day ACCES conference will feature a dynamic pool of more than 60 local and international speakers, businesses and showcasing artists from over 50 countries. The music trade show offers a strong programme that includes industry talks, networking sessions, workshops, exhibitions, awards and music performances.

“We aim to be a respected and recognised music service company, providing great ideas and creating content that both sells and builds brand value. Our recognition is based on client satisfaction,” Ziiki Media said.

The company’s partnership with Warner Music Group gives it exclusive rights to distribute content for artists signed by the giant record label to over 190 digital platforms across the world. This also includes promo, event bookings, and concerts within Africa

Some of their other services are content aggregation, music marketing, content production and artist management, with the company distributing content.

Owora added: “In everything we do, we are committed to creativity and quality that leads to tangible change. Through partnerships across Africa, India and South East Asia we work with a broad array of businesses engaged in content aggregation and distribution in various formats.
