African stars featured in EA SPORTS FC 25 soundtrack

Rema and Shallipopi earned their spot with their anthem ‘BENIN BOYS’, while Omah Lay’s ‘Moving’ and Obongjayar’s ‘Tomorrow Man’ also made the cut.

The soundtrack, numbering over 100 songs and showcasing a “wide range of international tastemakers across genres” includes British artist Self Esteem’s ‘Big Man,’ featuring South Africa’s Moonchild Sanelly, Gambian-British rapper Pa Salieu’s ‘Allergy’, and British-Nigerian jazz quintet Ezra Collective’s ‘God Gave Me Feet For Dancing’ featuring Yazmin Lacey.

According to an official announcement this week, 114 songs will be available starting 27 September, with three additional tracks to be included in post-launch updates. The soundtrack also includes several unreleased songs set to drop later this year.

“Since 1997, the soundtrack has become a massive cultural and musical moment, providing a global platform to many up-and-coming artists who have seen immense success since their inclusion,” a statement says. “Continuing last year’s soundtrack trend of exploring new international artists, FC 25’s playlist spotlights an eclectic range of genres from around the world.”

Last year, Norway-based Kenyan group Matata’s ‘Not Today’ was featured on the official soundtrack of EA SPORTS FC 24, alongside ‘Mamgobhozi’ by Major Lazer and Major League DJz ft. Brenda Fassie and ‘Osama’ by Zakes Bantwini, Kasango, Bruno Be and Ralk.
